PUZZLE OF DEATH
A detective thriller.
When the rich and famous chemist Dr. Fredrick Rhineman suddenly dies his vengeful hate reaches its full fruition.
In his semi-retirement Dr. Rhineman is working on a deadly formula he proudly calls, Adolph’s Cocktail. He is researching evolution, DNA and the bloodlines of nationalities. One of his main interests is bacteria and pathogens; anything that can cause disease and death. The doctor’s aim is to be able to pinpoint a nationality and eliminate them. The German Dr. Rhineman is a closet Nazi. His number one desire is to rid the world of the Jews. He has composed a letter and made sixteen copies. Each of the letters contains a small piece of red paper cut in the jagged form of a puzzle piece. The doctor has written a letter of the alphabet or a number on each piece of red paper. When all the pieces are collected and assembled they'll reveal the location of ten million dollars in cash and the deadly formula. He instructs his secretary to mail the letters immediately upon his unexpected demise.
Dr. Rhineman is peerless at solving puzzles. One afternoon at his private club, he’s engaged in an exciting puzzle solving match with his friend Senator Louis Knowles. Suddenly he grabs his chest and dies from a massive heart attack. The next day his secretary mails the sixteen letters. Four are addressed to the ambassadors of Russia, Saudi Arabia, China and Iran. Twelve are mailed to the people he hated, which include ex-marine private detective Jake Wayde. As the letters are received the inevitable malice begins. The quest to retrieve the sixteen red pieces of the puzzle follows the pattern that Dr. Rhineman had envisioned. Four women are the prime suspects in the killing spree.
